Over the past several years, interculture.de has collaborated with the University of Jena’s Department of Intercultural Business Communication to develop numerous projects aimed at linking the fields of intercultural training and research. Several examples include: the interned-based ‘Intercultural Trainer and Coach’ continuing education study course, the Intercultural Portal, and the latest, a network for intercultural trainers. These and numerous other initiatives arising from the cooperation were recognized as the best concept for sustainable intercultural competence development in the Higher Education Category of the 2006 German Employer Prize. The head of the German Bahn (national railway), H. Mehdorn, and the honorary president of the Confederation of German Employers, K. Murmann, presented the €10,000 (approx. US $12,833) award to Prof. Dr. Jürgen Bolten, Dr. Marion Dathe und Mario Schulz on the German Employer Day 2006. Chancellor Angela Merkel was in attendance.
