2009 ISA Schedule
Emphasis of the 2009 ISA will be placed on the following topics:
Topic I: Blended Learning “Intercultural Trainer” Certificate
Become an intercultural trainer in the course of a year with our “Blended-Learning Concept”: This continuing education cycle will be offered in 2009 for the 6th time. During the 2009 Summer Academy, the first in-person seminar phase takes place, in which participants meet each other and familiarize themselves with Certificate contents and e-learning methods/ techniques. This is followed by a one year e-learning phase. The Certificate course concludes in the following year’s summer academy with the second in-person phase and a final exam. Topic II: Success in the International Market
See cultures through other eyes: Become acquainted with the underlying culture-specifics of the daily business routine in various countries and regions. Workshops on the following 11 cultures and/or regions will likely be offered:
- USA | Spain | Arab World | Italy | Germany | Mexico | Poland | France | China | India | Japan & China
Topic III: Thematic Workshops
In addition to workshops focusing on target cultures/ regions, we offer all interested public, and in particular our Certificate graduates and participants, the opportunity to familiarize themselves with further relevant thematic areas, through our workshops on selected intercultural themes. The following thematic workshops will likely be offered during the 10th Intercultural Summer Academy:
- IC Coaching (Beginners) [2 Courses] | IC Coaching (Advanced) – Inner Team | IC Coaching (Advanced) – Intervention Methods | Intercultural Mediation: Culture-General | Mediation (German- African context) | Intercultural Team Problem-Solving | Marketing Intercultural Trainings | Interact (Intercultural Management Game) | Trainer Know-How | Methodology of Interactive IC Workshops
Topic IV: Insight into the Praxis of International Management (evening course)
Participation is free of charge and open to the greater public.
Topic V: Intercultural Network of Continuing Education
Participants can attend a wide variety of workshops on various topics offered within the network of continuing education. This seminar is intended for and restricted to members of the Intercultural Network only.
Topic VI: Germany-wide Ph. D. Candidate Meeting
The 6th national doctoral candidate meeting of intercultural-directed studies is planned to take place on September 3, 2009, as part of the Intercultural Summer Academy in Jena.
Topic VII: Department of Intercultural Business Communication Alumni Meeting
After an initial IWK Alumni Platform in 2008, a large alumni meeting is planned for the 10th ISA.
As in previous years, the ThILLM (Thuringian Institute for Teacher Education, Curriculum Development, and Media) recognizes Intercultural Summer Academy seminars and
workshops as advanced training for teachers in Thuringia.
